Sebastian's Due
Isn't there something in all of us that wants to right the wrongs? Justify our bad choices? In life, we are given hard paths and also choice. Sebastian's path, like many of us, starts out well enough, until a family tragedy leaves him vulnerable and unable to take care of himself. Deborah Ash, a teen who is also recovering from her own misfortunes, falls in love with him. Once he realizes what she can offer, he takes all as his full right, without a care or thought as to how it might affect her. He soon gets used to the women in his life helping him achieve whatever it is that he needs or wants, and it becomes his survival.
But in 2004, Sebastian goes missing. With too many burnt bridges, and too many women scorned, very few go looking for him, or help the detective assigned to him at that time.
But when Sarah Reid goes missing in 2014, his name resurfaces. With the help of his daughter Tria, who is now a young adult, and Nina Flores, a new detective, the mystery of Sarah and Sebastian comes closer to being understood.
Inspiration:
I think one of my first inspirations for this book came to me after watching a Kurt Cobain documentary many years back. One of his girlfriends took care of Kurt; helped support him. Due to her efforts, he had a place to live, food to eat. When you are poor, when you feel like you have no one, might you find someone who can help you? If you leave home at too early of an age, might you find people to lean on?
It's no secret that many in the entertainment industry experience trauma in their earlier years. But musicians seem to out weigh everyone in this area. Hendrix. Corgan. Cobain. There are many others, I will add them as I think of them.
Reality:

The original book was so long! I decided to divide it up in two. Even though the second book, "Room for Sebastian" has taken me much longer to organize, I'm glad I divided it up. Publishing one, really long novel when you have never published one before might backfire.
