This November I was more motivated to complete a writing project more than ever. A little thought to all: in spring/summer, gather all of your information so that by November, you have a framework. This will allow you to write your 1,667 words a day with a little more than a backdrop to get started.
Had I not had a file of mini-vignettes, I would have never stuck to 1,667 words a day. I would have written some here, and some there. Kind of like I always seem to do.
So...did I finish my 50,000 words???
All in a month?
By November 30; I had 44,000 words or so. 2 days late, 6,000 words short. But by Dec 3rd., it was finished.
I didn't enter a contest, so to speak. Had I done that, I might have been a little discouraged towards the end. But I was in a contest with myself. Never before have I treated the writing process like a job; but this is what it is. You have to set aside a dedicated amount of time for it or these vignettes sit in a file for the ages to discover. And who wants that?
To all writers; wherever you are in your process...if you haven't tried NaNoWriMo, I highly suggest it!
Oh! My project: "The Love Hardest-Won": a story of hard-won love and marriage during the Great Depression.
I'm not sold on the title...we'll see what my friend has to say; as it is her story more than it is mine!
